My vision

I just made this 1800's antique inspired doll quilt .
It's a bit narrow and smaller than the original one.
I purchased this lovely antique doll quilt top and wanted to make replica.

Here is a picture of original quilt top.


It's all hand pieced and the piecing skill is fare. I wonder if this quilt maker may have been a little girl.
She may have collected all her mother's left over fabric pieces and started practicing while her mother was making a quilt or fixing clothing..... They were sitting side by side in front of a warm fireplace.
This is just my imagination and I love to think of people's past time.
The antique quilts are always speaking to me and that's why I love them.

ドールキルトのトップを作りました。
これは私が購入した1800年代のアンティークのドールキルトトップのレプリカです。といっても、私が作ったサイズはオリジナルよりも少し細めで小さいのですが。
このオリジナルのアンティークキルトは、全てのブロックがハンドピーシングです。
このキルトを見て私が一番初めに想像したのが、これは子供が縫ったものじゃないかしか?って事でした。裏を見ると、縫い目もマチマチです。でもそんな所が、またとても可愛く思えるのです。
小さな女の子が、お母さんから貰ったいらなくなった布の端を集めて作ったんじゃないかしら。。。。暖かな暖炉の火の側で、お母さんが裁縫をするその傍ら、女の子が一生懸命に手縫いの練習をしている、そんな光景が浮かんできます。

I think your imagination is wonderful...just the thought of that is inspiring!! Love the little dollquilt you are working on...you did a good job...almost the same... :o)
